Golf Day 2010

MBA GOLF DAY AT STRAND ON 11 March 2010

 The 2010 MBA Member Company Golf Day was held at Strand Golf Club on 11^th March. Our members, as always, gave full support on the day, with 116 intrepid players teeing off, and 16 member companies sponsoring holes (and putting greens).

 Strand Golf Club was looking magnificent on the day – a backdrop of mountains on the one side, the sea to the other - and the weather could not have been better, - hot, sunny, and unbelievably windfree !    This is a tight coastal course with narrow fairways and some tough par 4’s  and the wind, when it blows, has a huge impact helping the waterholes to swallow golf balls.  There are no less than 11 water features you will encounter in a round, many of these graced by elegant swans and ducks  

After registrations with Margot and Ivan at the table, our golfers set off into the fray, returning after a couple of hours for quick refreshments at Halfway House and then back into battle for the second 9.

Shortly before sunset all golfers were back at the clubhouse and prizegiving was held in the comfortable first floor lounge .  Rob Johnson, MBA Director gave a short address and thanked everyone present for supporting this event and helping to make it such  a resounding success, with a special thanks to all the sponsors of the day.   Deon Bester read out all the winners’ names and assisted in handing over prizes. Prizes consisted amongst others of cameras, watches, golf bags, hammocks, picnic gear, sports holdalls, golf balls,and kitchen appliances.
